Need A Car Charging Station At Your Atlanta Home or Business?
Thinking of making the switch to a plug-in vehicle? Are more of your employees making the switch too?
You only have to look at the roads today to see that electric cars are in high demand. There are now more than 2 million electric cars on the world’s roads, and it’s increasing globally every year.
Most come with a Level 1 charging station. With this in place, you can plug either your pure electric or your plug-in hybrid directly into a standard household outlet. And if your vehicle has only a limited electric range or you don’t drive very much, this may be all you ever need.
Otherwise, it might benefit you to install a Level 2 charging station.
A home charging station, or an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), does not charge your car. Instead, your car has an on-board charger which converts the alternating current to direct current and is then stored in its batteries.
If you don’t drive very much, it may be worth a trial period to see if the Level 1 charger is sufficient. If you decide to move forward with a Level 2 charger, it’s important to take your driving patterns into consideration.
A vehicle’s electric range is its efficiency. This equates to 3 to 4 miles per kilowatt hour times the size of its battery pack. So a 30 kilowatt hour battery pack with an efficiency of 3.5 miles per kilowatt hour will give you a range of about 105 miles.
For some, home stations are enough. But as more people upgrade to electric technology, there will be more need for charging stations in work environments too.
Commercial charging stations work a little differently than home units. Because commercial charging stations have to work with a variety of vehicles, they come with plug-and-play features where the station automatically detects the specific charging requirements of the vehicle. Drivers just have to plug in their vehicle, and they can feel assured it will be charged with no complications or issues.
