How Often to Clean Air Ducts
Air ducts should be cleaned on average about every three to five years. NADCA can’t really put a timeline on it, just because of the way people live. The length of time can vary drastically. It could be every year, or it could be every seven years. If you don’t have any pets, if you don’t smoke, if you don’t do any of those other type of things, this will reduce the need to have your air ducts cleaned.
The best way to actually tell is to have a service technician come out to your home and take a look at your unit. He or she will be able to look at all the aspects of the actual system and be able to tell you exactly what’s going on. If you have the accumulations on the bottom of your coil, if you have all those particulates inside your return duct system, inside your supply duct system, our service technicians can come out there and service the units. We will be able to tell you exactly what needs to be done as far as the service work, as well as if your air ducts really truly need to be cleaned.
