Are You Properly Changing Your Furnace Filter?

<_>

If you’ve followed any checklist for fall home maintenance, chances are “changing out your furnace filter” is on the list.

There’s a good reason for that.

Changing out your furnace filter at the beginning of the season will ensure proper airflow into your heating equipment. It can help improve the indoor air quality in your home, while making your furnace operate more efficiently. Are You Properly Changing Your Furnace Filter?

Changing your furnace filter isn’t a difficult task.

Head out to your local big box store and you’ll find several different furnace filters to choose from. You can get multiple packs for very little, or upgrade to furnace filters that promise higher efficiency and more cleaning power.

This isn’t time to skimp. A high quality furnace filter can make your furnace operate more efficiently. If you need suggestions, we’re happy to help.

Furnace filters are located in different places depending on your system. They can be near your ductwork, near the air handler, or near the furnace cabinet. If you have a new one installed, have your heating technician show you where it is.

Also, determine which size filter works with your furnace. The wrong sized filter won’t fit properly and won’t perform the job as intended.

Next, determine how to correctly place your furnace filter. Furnace filters come with an arrow printed on them. Be sure this airflow arrow is pointing towards the furnace or air handler.

And that’s it. If you have any questions about your furnace filter, just ask. When in doubt, call in a professional to ensure your furnace is operating at its best.
