Most homeowners don’t realize their smoke and CO detectors have expiration dates—or that older models might not provide adequate protection. These devices are essential for detecting fast-moving flames and silent threats like carbon monoxide long before they become deadly. At R.S. Andrews, we offer expert installation and maintenance of detectors throughout the Atlanta Metro Area, using smart placement and updated technology to improve early warning times. Our electricians take the guesswork out of safety by ensuring every alarm is positioned correctly, wired securely, and tested thoroughly. We help protect what matters most with proactive solutions built around your home’s layout and your family’s needs.

Is It Time to Replace Your Smoke or CO Detectors?

Detectors aren’t designed to last forever—and outdated models can delay alerts or fail entirely when you need them most. Regular testing is important, but replacement is just as critical. If you notice any of the signs below, it’s time to schedule an inspection with a licensed electrician in the Greater Atlanta Area:

  • Units are over 10 years old: Most detectors lose sensitivity over time and should be replaced every decade.

  • Constant chirping or false alarms: Beeping that doesn’t stop—even after a battery change—often signals a failing unit.

  • Yellowing or discoloration of the casing: This can indicate heat exposure and plastic degradation, both of which affect function.

  • No hardwired connection or battery backup: Modern homes need layered protection with dependable power sources.

  • You don’t have detectors in every bedroom and hallway: Missing or poorly placed units reduce response time in an emergency.

  • Carbon monoxide detector hasn’t been tested in years: CO is odorless and deadly—every level of your home needs protection.

Schedule today! We’re ready to deliver expert service and a smile to your door.

Our Smoke & CO Detector Services

Smoke Detector Installation & Replacement

We install modern smoke detectors that meet current safety standards and are designed for early detection of fast-flaming and smoldering fires. Our team evaluates room layout and airflow to determine optimal placement in bedrooms, hallways, and shared living spaces. We also replace aging or damaged units with hardwired, battery-backup models to improve reliability.

Carbon Monoxide Detector Services

Carbon monoxide is odorless, invisible, and potentially fatal—especially in homes with gas appliances or attached garages. We install CO detectors on every level of your home and near sleeping areas to ensure maximum coverage. Our electricians test every device for proper function and integrate them into your home’s power system when possible.

Dual Sensor & Combination Alarms

Some homes benefit from combination detectors that sense both smoke and carbon monoxide. We offer and install dual-function units that reduce clutter while improving overall protection. These are ideal for newer builds or renovations where efficient safety planning is key.

Hardwired System Upgrades

For homes relying solely on battery-powered units, we offer hardwired systems with battery backup for uninterrupted performance. These detectors are interconnected, so if one goes off—every alarm in your home sounds. Our licensed electricians ensure safe, code-compliant installation that won’t disrupt your daily routine.

Detector Testing & Maintenance

Routine testing is essential to keep alarms working properly. We offer inspection and maintenance services that include function checks, battery replacement, and cleaning to remove dust or buildup. If you’re not sure your system is doing its job, we’ll test and verify every unit with professional precision.

Why Homeowners Choose Us

Installing detectors may seem simple—but small mistakes in placement, wiring, or model selection can lead to serious risks down the line. At R.S. Andrews, we take a detail-driven approach to life safety systems, making sure every alarm in your home does exactly what it’s supposed to: warn you fast and without fail. From custom recommendations to expert installation, our team gives you more than just peace of mind—we give you confidence that your home is protected around the clock. Atlanta homeowners trust us to treat safety like it’s personal—because it is.

  • We treat every home like it’s protecting our own: Your family’s safety drives every decision we make on the job.

  • Tailored recommendations—not one-size-fits-all: We look at how your home is built and how your family lives before recommending devices.

  • Wired right and tested twice: We double-check every wired connection and run live tests to make sure you’re fully protected before we leave.

  • No guesswork, no shortcuts—just code-compliant work: Every detector we install meets or exceeds Georgia’s current building and fire safety codes.

  • Trusted in Atlanta homes for generations: Our reputation is built on protecting people, not just wiring systems.

Daniel came to our house after hours when we called him about a water leak in a toilet he worked on previously. Turned out the problem is not related to anything he did previously. He scheduled an appointment to replace the toilet tomorrow. Daniel has been to our house twice, and we trust him implicitly. Good employee. Toilet has been replaced. Good job!

Jonathan Chapman came to work on my garbage disposer that was not working and had my dishwasher backing up water. I decided to ask him to if a shower head that I had would work in my guest shower. Jonathan was also helping to train an apprentice. I kept hoping that I would not need to replace the garbage disposal. Jonathan cleared up the clog in my garbage disposal. replace the shower head. They checked my water heater and found that the water pressure was too high because we had added a piece on the water heater. He turned down the pressure and performed these 3 items for the price of the water heater. My husband has Parkinson and cannot do anything. Most helpful were the notes on having these items checked in the future.

New Service - 11/26/2025. After I started to replace a faucet yesterday and was unable to remove the old one (it was a booger!) James Roche Jr. came out to do the job. It turned out to be more involved than expected, but James got the old faucet out, put the new one in and replaced the p-trap. It took a while (including a trip to the store for parts), but he moved along well, got the job done, cleaned up and left. The price was fair and everything looks and works well. New service - 3/7/25. Our kitchen drain overflowed last night. Called RSA in the morning and they had Christopher Jones out before lunchtime. He snaked the line and recommended an enzyme-based drain cleaner. Friendly, professional and efficient. 2nd update: We elected to get a new tank. Zeek came out and removed the old tank before the work in our basement and retuned to install a new one. He worked quicly to install the new one and explained everything when he was done. A very good experience. Update: Zeek came out: We have to temporarily relocate our water heater for some work in our basement. He was professional, explained everything that needed to be done and checked several things. RS Andrews had previously installed a water heater, done some related plumbing upgrades and run a new supply from the water meter to the house and all has been good. They've also installed a new toilet that I bought. In addition to the toilet, the supply line from inside the wall had to be replaced. Today, we noticed water on the garage floor and called R.S. Andrews. Their guy Jaime was out quickly, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He also recommended a company to check for water damage and determine any additional work. Jaime was very professional and explained all he did plus some other work we should consider.
