Plumbing emergencies do not wait for regular business hours. A burst pipe, overflowing toilet, sewer backup, or leaking water heater can damage floors, walls, cabinets, and belongings in a matter of minutes. When you need a 24-hour plumber in Atlanta, R.S. Andrews is available day and night to help control the problem and complete the necessary repair.

Our Atlanta emergency plumbers provide plumbing service 24/7 throughout the metro area. We arrive prepared to identify the source, stop active water or wastewater when possible, and explain what must be done to restore safe operation. Whether the problem occurs overnight, during a weekend, or on a holiday, you can reach a local emergency plumber when waiting until the next business day is not a safe option.

When Is a Plumbing Problem an Emergency?

Not every plumbing problem requires immediate after-hours service. A slowly dripping faucet can usually be contained until a scheduled appointment, but active flooding, sewage exposure, or loss of an essential plumbing function should be addressed quickly.

Call for emergency plumbing services if you are dealing with:

  • A burst, split, or rapidly leaking pipe

  • Water spreading across floors or through ceilings

  • An overflowing toilet that will not stop

  • Sewage backing up through drains or fixtures

  • Multiple drains backing up simultaneously

  • A leaking or ruptured water heater tank

  • No usable water throughout the home

  • A damaged water service line

  • A plumbing fixture that cannot be shut off

  • A suspected gas line leak

  • A sump pump failure during heavy rain

  • Any plumbing problem creating an immediate sanitation or property-damage risk

If you are unsure whether the problem can wait, describe what is happening when you contact us. We can help determine whether you need an emergency 24-hour plumber or whether the service can be safely scheduled for a later appointment.

Our Emergency Plumbing Services

R.S. Andrews handles urgent problems throughout the home’s water, drain, sewer, and fixture systems. Our emergency plumbing service focuses first on controlling the immediate hazard and then identifying the repair needed to prevent the same problem from continuing.

Burst Pipe and Active Leak Repair

A broken pipe can release a large volume of water before the damage becomes visible. Supply-line failures may occur under sinks, behind walls, above ceilings, in crawl spaces, or near plumbing fixtures and appliances.

Our plumbers locate the affected section, stop the active leak, and determine whether the pipe can be repaired or needs to be replaced. When moisture is present but the source is unclear, our leak detection services can help isolate concealed plumbing leaks without unnecessary disruption.

Emergency Toilet Repair

An overflowing or unusable toilet can quickly become an emergency, especially in a home with only one bathroom. The problem may be caused by a fixture clog, failed fill valve, damaged flapper, blocked drain, leaking supply connection, or a deeper sewer-line obstruction.

Our emergency toilet repair service addresses toilets that will not stop running, repeatedly overflow, leak at the base, or cannot flush properly. We repair the immediate problem and check whether it is isolated to the fixture or connected to a larger drainage issue. Learn more about our complete toilet repair and installation services.

Emergency Drain Cleaning

Standing water in a sink is inconvenient, but wastewater rising through several fixtures can indicate a more serious blockage. A main drain obstruction may cause toilets to bubble, showers to fill with dirty water, or sewage to enter through a floor drain.

We provide professional drain cleaning for urgent blockages affecting the safe use of your plumbing system. If the same clog has returned several times, we may recommend a camera inspection to determine whether buildup or structural pipe damage is responsible.

Sewer Backup Response

Sewage inside the home creates an immediate sanitation concern. Avoid using toilets, sinks, showers, washing machines, and dishwashers if wastewater is backing up through fixtures. Continuing to send water into the drainage system can make the overflow worse.

Our plumbers determine whether the backup is caused by an obstruction or a damaged main line. Blockages may be cleared through drain cleaning or hydro jetting, while roots, cracks, offsets, bellies, and collapsed sections may require sewer line repair.

Emergency Water Heater Repair

Water pooling around a tank-style water heater may come from a valve, supply connection, drain fitting, or failed tank. A ruptured tank can release enough water to damage nearby flooring, drywall, stored belongings, and finished areas.

R.S. Andrews provides emergency water heater repair for active leaks and other urgent equipment failures. If the tank itself has failed, replacement is generally required because a leaking storage tank cannot be permanently repaired.

Water Service Line Emergencies

A damaged water service line can reduce pressure, interrupt water throughout the home, or release water underground. Warning signs may include an unexplained wet area in the yard, water near the foundation, sudden pressure loss, or water meter activity when fixtures are off.

Our water line repair services address leaks and breaks between the municipal connection and the home. We locate the failure and determine the appropriate repair based on the line material, location, and extent of damage.

Sump Pump Emergencies

A failed sump pump can leave a basement or crawl space vulnerable during prolonged or heavy rain. Power problems, stuck switches, blocked discharge piping, worn pumps, and overwhelmed equipment can all prevent water from being removed properly.

Emergency service may be appropriate when water is actively rising or entering a finished space. Our sump pump services include pump inspection, repair, replacement, and discharge-line evaluation.

Gas Line Emergencies

A suspected gas leak requires immediate caution. Leave the property, avoid flames and electrical switches, and contact the gas utility or emergency services from a safe location. Do not remain inside while waiting for a plumbing appointment.

Once the immediate hazard has been addressed and the property is safe to enter, R.S. Andrews can evaluate the piping and provide the necessary gas line repair.

What to Do Before the Emergency Plumber Arrives

A few immediate steps may reduce damage while help is on the way. Only take actions that can be completed safely, and do not enter an area containing standing water near electrical equipment or suspected sewage contamination.

Depending on the emergency, you can:

  • Shut off the nearest fixture valve if the leak is localized

  • Turn off the home’s main water supply for an uncontrolled water leak

  • Stop using all plumbing fixtures during a sewer backup

  • Turn off the water heater’s water supply if the tank is leaking

  • Move belongings away from spreading water when it is safe

  • Use towels, buckets, or a wet vacuum to contain clean water

  • Keep children and pets away from wastewater

  • Avoid chemical drain cleaners and repeated flushing

  • Leave the property immediately if you smell gas

Knowing where the main water shutoff is located can save valuable time during an emergency. In many Metro Atlanta homes, the valve may be in a basement, crawl space, garage, utility area, or near the point where the water service enters the home.

Emergency Plumbing for Metro Atlanta Homes

Plumbing emergencies in Metro Atlanta vary according to the age and construction of the home. Older properties may have corroded galvanized supply piping, aging cast iron drains, or clay sewer lines vulnerable to roots and failed joints. Newer homes can still experience broken fixture connections, water heater failures, disposal backups, and pressure-related leaks.

The area’s mature tree canopy also contributes to sewer root intrusion, while Georgia’s clay-rich soil can shift as moisture levels change. Those conditions can stress underground water and sewer piping, contributing to separated joints, cracks, offsets, and recurring backups.

Heavy rain does not directly cause every plumbing emergency, but it can expose weak points in underground systems and overwhelm sump pump equipment. Our plumbers consider the home’s pipe materials, age, layout, and recent conditions when identifying the source of an urgent problem.

What to Expect From Our Emergency Plumbing Service

When you contact R.S. Andrews for emergency plumbing, we focus on the problem creating the immediate risk. The service begins with gathering information about the affected fixtures, the location of visible water, and whether the home’s water or drainage system is still usable.

Once on-site, our plumber will:

  1. Evaluate the immediate safety and damage risk

  2. Locate the source of the leak, backup, or equipment failure

  3. Isolate water or wastewater when possible

  4. Explain the findings and available repair options

  5. Complete an appropriate repair or stabilize the system

  6. Identify any follow-up work needed for a lasting solution

Some emergencies can be fully repaired during the initial appointment. When extensive excavation, specialized materials, restoration, or replacement equipment is required, we will make the plumbing system as safe as possible and explain the next phase of work.

I am so pleased with the service I received I can't find enough words to give the praise deserved for both the Company and the Service Technician Neil Johnson.

They resolved an issue that has plagued us for years. Our stove was not aligned with the counters because of previous plumbing work which routed copper pipes behind the stove.
Neil came assesed the issue and immediately went to work . I am overjoyed that the stove is properly positioned and everything is functioning as it should.
RS Andrew's is our go to from now on.

This was maintenance plan service. No charge for this visit. Colin was wonderful, Comes in, goes straight to the furnace. Begins checking and recalibrating lines, if needed. Changes out the air filter. Enters date of service inside the unit and he's gone.
My partner John, who has his contractor's license, was impressed. See you next year Colin. Linda
