Atlanta summers bring persistent heat that forces air conditioning systems to run around the clock. A whole house fan offers a powerful alternative for cooling your home during the evening and early morning hours when outside temperatures drop.

By pulling cool outdoor air through open windows and exhausting hot, trapped air out through the attic vents, these systems create a refreshing breeze and lower the temperature of your living space quickly. R.S. Andrews helps homeowners across Metro Atlanta integrate these systems into their existing ventilation strategies to improve comfort and decrease monthly utility bills.

The Mechanical Benefits of High-Volume Ventilation

Whole house fans cool the physical thermal mass of your Atlanta home. While traditional AC focuses on the air, these high-volume systems pull heat out of your drywall, framing, and flooring.

Energy-Efficient Cooling & Thermal Control

Lower energy consumption reduces your reliance on central AC by using high-efficiency motors that draw minimal wattage compared to a compressor. This allows you to maintain comfort during Atlanta’s humid shoulder seasons at a fraction of the cost of a full HVAC cycle.

Rapid Home Air Exchange & Odor Removal

Improved ventilation removes stale air, humidity, and stubborn odors in minutes by replacing the home’s entire air volume multiple times per hour. This constant flow creates a natural breeze that lowers the perceived temperature by 5 to 10 degrees.

Extended HVAC System Longevity

Reduced mechanical workload occurs by lowering the total cooling cycles required during peak afternoon hours. Pre-cooling your home’s structural mass at night allows your primary air conditioner to work significantly less the following day, preventing premature wear.

Quiet, High-Volume Performance

Acoustic comfort is achieved through modern insulated ducting and high-torque brushless motors that eliminate the vibration common in older models. These components move massive air volumes while remaining whisper-quiet in the living areas below.

Whole House Fan Installation & Sizing

The effectiveness of a whole house fan depends entirely on attic capacity. If your attic lacks sufficient net free venting area, the fan creates backpressure. This reduces efficiency and can blow dust back into the living space.

R.S. Andrews technicians evaluate your attic square footage and existing soffit or ridge vents to ensure the air has a clear path to exit the home. We calculate the specific cubic feet per minute requirements based on the total volume of your house to select the right fan size for your needs.

Technical Installation Steps

  1. Precision Cutting: We create a precise opening in the ceiling of a central hallway.
  2. Structural Mounting: The fan housing is securely mounted to the ceiling joists.
  3. Electrical Integration: We handle all wiring and the installation of timers or variable speed switches.
  4. Thermal Sealing: We install R-value insulated doors to prevent heat loss during winter months.

Whole House Fan Repair & Maintenance

Maintenance for these systems is essential for long-term performance. Our team inspects the shutters for a proper seal and cleans the fan blades to maintain balance.

If your existing fan makes grinding noises or fails to pull air effectively, our technicians provide rapid repairs to restore your home’s airflow. We check motor capacitors and belt tension on older models to prevent unexpected mechanical failure during the peak of the cooling season.

Schedule today! We’re ready to deliver expert service and a smile to your door.

Kalvin was great! He was very professional while explaining future tune ups and code requirements. I believe my present unit is approximately 16 years old and perhaps sometime in the near future best think about replacing the unit altogether. Good information to have, I'll keep Kalvin's recommendation under consideration.

RS Andrews did an excellent job and helped improve my air quality with an ultraviolet light in the downstairs furnace. Well worth the investment!

Charles was very professional and efficient. Very knowledgeable. The toilet was $217.00 and the cost of the plumbing was $489.00. I tipped him $60.00. The toilet is very wobbly and they’ll have to comeback and place some plastic or rubber shins beneath it to balance it!!! This shouldve been done upon the first visit!!!
