Common Electrical Problems

There are a few electrical problems that our Atlanta electricians see over and over again. They include:

Electrical Outlet Doesn’t Work

If your electrical outlet won’t work, you should begin trying to solve the problem by checking the circuit breaker to see if the breakers has been tripped. If this is not the case, you may have a burned out outlet. If you see any signs of blackening, do not use or touch the outlet. Call an electrician right away to avoid a potential electrical fire.

Electrical Outlet Sparks

It is fairly normal for a spark to fly from an outlet when it’s used. However, if too much heat builds up in the outlet, when a connection is made, more serious sparking can occur that can lead to a short of the circuit. If this happens consistently, it’s time for you to get electrical service performed by a professional.

Lights Flicker Occasionally

Power surges are often the cause of very occasional light flickering. However, if your lights flicker pretty regularly, it can be a sign of a poor electrical connection. If this is the case, you need to have an electrician inspect your wiring and electrical system to determine where the problem lies.

One of My Appliances Constantly Trips the Circuit Breaker

If an appliance that you use regularly continually trips your circuit breaker, it’s probably because you have too many high wattage items running at the same time. This commonly happens when you have several appliances in use at the same time. When this happens, it’s best to have an electrician install separate circuits to meet the demands of your normal routine.

Why Should I Hire an Atlanta Electrician?
