Reliable hot water is essential for bathing, cleaning, cooking, and everyday household use. When a water heater stops producing enough hot water, begins leaking, or reaches the end of its service life, R.S. Andrews provides water heater repair, installation, replacement, inspection, and maintenance throughout Metro Atlanta.

Our plumbers service traditional tank and tankless water heaters, including gas, electric, heat pump, and high-efficiency models. Since 1968, Atlanta-area homeowners have trusted R.S. Andrews to diagnose hot water problems, repair failed components, and install properly sized replacement systems.

Water Heater Repair in Metro Atlanta

Water heater problems can originate in the heating system, thermostat, burner assembly, electrical components, valves, storage tank, or connected plumbing. R.S. Andrews provides water heater repair in Atlanta for systems that have stopped working as well as units showing early signs of component failure.

Our plumbers repair problems such as:

  • No hot water

  • Water that does not get hot enough

  • Hot water running out too quickly

  • Inconsistent or fluctuating water temperatures

  • Water leaking from the tank or nearby connections

  • A pilot light that will not ignite or remain lit

  • Unusual popping, rumbling, or banging noises

  • Rust-colored or discolored hot water

  • Low hot-water pressure

  • Fault codes from a tankless water heater

  • A tankless unit that shuts down during use

  • Water that takes too long to reach the fixture

  • A pressure relief valve that leaks or discharges

  • Unusually high energy use

Some symptoms can be corrected with a focused component repair, while others may indicate internal tank deterioration or a larger system problem. Our plumbers inspect the equipment, identify the source of the failure, and explain whether repair or replacement is the more practical option.

Water Heater Parts We Repair and Replace

A failed water heater does not always require complete replacement. Depending on the type and condition of the equipment, R.S. Andrews may be able to restore operation by repairing or replacing the affected component.

Our water heater repair services include:

  • Water heater leak repair

  • Thermostat replacement

  • Electric heating element replacement

  • Gas burner and ignition repair

  • Thermocouple and flame-sensor service

  • Pilot light repair

  • Anode rod replacement

  • Dip tube replacement

  • Temperature and pressure relief valve replacement

  • Water heater expansion tank installation

  • Expansion tank replacement

  • Drain valve replacement

  • Tankless water heater descaling

  • Tankless ignition and flow-sensor repair

  • Hot water recirculation pump repair

A water heater inspection helps determine whether the problem is isolated to a serviceable part or involves the storage tank itself. If water is coming from another pipe, fixture, or concealed location, our plumbing leak detection services can help locate the source.

Professional Water Heater Inspection and Diagnosis

Our plumbers begin by confirming the symptoms and inspecting the water heater, its connections, and the components responsible for heating and controlling the water. The specific diagnostic steps depend on whether the home has a gas, electric, tank, tankless, or heat pump water heater.

An inspection may include checking the thermostat setting, heating elements, burner or ignition system, safety controls, venting, temperature and pressure valve, expansion tank, electrical or gas connections, visible plumbing connections, and signs of corrosion or leakage. For tankless systems, we can also evaluate error codes, flow activation, scale accumulation, ignition, and water-temperature performance.

Once the problem has been identified, we explain the recommended repair and the condition of the overall system. If the tank is actively leaking or the failure is causing significant water damage, contact R.S. Andrews for emergency plumbing service.

Water Heater Installation and Replacement

R.S. Andrews installs water heaters for new applications and replaces systems that are leaking, inefficient, undersized, or no longer dependable. We help homeowners select equipment based on the home’s available fuel source, hot-water demand, installation space, existing connections, efficiency goals, and budget.

Our water heater installation options include:

  • Gas water heaters

  • Electric water heaters

  • Traditional tank water heaters

  • Tankless water heaters

  • Heat pump water heaters

  • High-efficiency water heaters

  • Replacement systems for existing homes

  • New water heater installations

  • Residential and light commercial equipment

Installation includes removing the old water heater when applicable, positioning and connecting the new equipment, addressing the necessary water, gas, electrical, venting, drainage, and safety connections, and testing the completed system. If new or modified gas piping is required, our plumbers also provide gas line installation and replacement.

When Water Heater Replacement Makes Sense

Repair is often appropriate when the water heater is in otherwise sound condition and the problem is limited to a replaceable component. Replacement may provide better long-term value when the tank is leaking, corrosion is extensive, hot-water capacity no longer meets the household’s needs, or the unit has experienced repeated failures.

Our plumbers consider several factors before recommending replacement:

  • Age and condition of the water heater

  • Location and severity of a leak

  • Type and cost of the required repair

  • History of previous breakdowns

  • Availability of replacement parts

  • Current hot-water capacity

  • Energy efficiency

  • Condition of the tank and connected components

  • Whether the existing system still fits the household’s needs

We explain the available repair and replacement options so homeowners can compare immediate cost, expected reliability, and long-term performance. When replacement is selected, we help identify a properly sized system rather than automatically duplicating the old equipment.

Tankless Water Heater Installation and Repair

Tankless water heaters produce hot water as it is needed instead of storing heated water in a tank. R.S. Andrews provides tankless water heater installation, replacement, maintenance, and repair for Metro Atlanta homes.

A tankless installation begins with evaluating the household’s peak hot-water demand, available gas or electrical capacity, venting requirements, incoming water conditions, and installation location. Proper sizing is important because the unit must support the fixtures and appliances likely to use hot water at the same time.

We also repair tankless water heaters that display error codes, fail to ignite, produce inconsistent temperatures, shut down during use, or no longer provide the expected flow of hot water. Service may involve the ignition system, burner, heat exchanger, flow sensor, temperature sensor, controls, venting, water connections, or mineral accumulation within the unit.

Tankless systems require periodic maintenance to protect performance and water flow. Our plumbers can inspect and flush the system, remove scale from the heat exchanger, check filters and connections, and verify proper operation.

Is a Tankless Water Heater Right for Your Home?

A tankless water heater may be worth considering when replacing an aging storage-tank system, but it is not automatically the best choice for every property. Available utility capacity, installation requirements, household demand, and equipment cost should all be considered.

Potential advantages include:

  • Hot water produced on demand

  • No large storage tank

  • Compact, wall-mounted equipment

  • Reduced standby heat loss

  • Longer potential service life with proper maintenance

  • Multiple available sizes and efficiency levels

  • Consistent hot-water delivery when correctly sized

R.S. Andrews can compare tank and tankless options based on how your household uses hot water. We can also identify whether changes to gas piping, electrical service, venting, or water connections would be required for the conversion.

Water Heater Maintenance and Flushing

Regular water heater maintenance can help preserve heating performance, identify deteriorating components, and reduce the likelihood of an unexpected loss of hot water. Maintenance needs vary between storage-tank, tankless, gas, electric, and heat pump water heaters.

A maintenance visit may include:

  • Inspecting the tank and visible connections

  • Checking for corrosion and water leakage

  • Flushing sediment from a tank water heater

  • Descaling a tankless water heater

  • Inspecting the anode rod

  • Testing the temperature and pressure relief valve

  • Checking the thermostat and temperature setting

  • Inspecting heating elements or burner operation

  • Evaluating the expansion tank

  • Checking venting and safety controls

  • Inspecting recirculation equipment

  • Confirming proper system operation

Maintenance can reveal worn valves, an exhausted anode rod, scale buildup, minor leaks, or performance problems before they cause a larger failure. The Smiley Advantage Plan provides ongoing maintenance benefits and priority scheduling for participating homeowners.

Mineral and sediment levels can also affect water-heater maintenance requirements and contribute to scale accumulation in some systems. R.S. Andrews also provides water filtration services for homeowners interested in improving water quality throughout the home.

Commercial Water Heater Services

Businesses, multifamily properties, churches, and other facilities may require larger-capacity or higher-recovery water-heating equipment than a typical home. R.S. Andrews provides commercial water heater repair, replacement, installation, and maintenance based on the property’s hot-water demand and existing system configuration. Our commercial plumbing services also support the broader plumbing needs of commercial properties.

I was able to get a same day appointment. I did have to pay for expensive leak detection repair, as $99 only covers their trip to u, any tools and the charges begin. I could not get the water line to show leakage after turning the water line off, so that was why leak detection was necessary. It was in same spot as 3 years ago. Mohamad was able to repair the line. Mohamad was courteous and remained calm, over my outrage about pricing. Hope u know where your leak is before calling. Good luck. I'm 80 year old senior, I did get 5 per cent discount. I'm smiling today.
